so how do you get from here to the galapagos ...
you buy five frequent flier tickets on delta .... and thank your lucky stars that something extra (like frequent flier miles) comes from all those business trips the sweet husband has to take .... and you fly to quito ecuador ...
quito is the capital of ecuador ... ecuador is in the north west side of south america ... (top left) ... ecuador is no the pacific ocean ... quito is in the andes mountains right next to an active (eek) volcano .... if we were staying in quito longer, i might worry about altitude sickness .. three out of five becks have had altitude sickness type headaches when skiing in colorado .... but we'll be back to galapagos sea level pretty fast ....
we could have flown to guayaquil ecuador ... it's actually a bigger city (i'm guessing cause it is coastal) but the plane tix were more expensive when we were looking ...
from quito, you take an ecuadorian airline to the galapagos islands .. to baltra ... i think baltra used to be the name of the island, now it is the name of the airport ... and the island is called seymour ... seymour strikes me as a funny name for an island .. kinda like naming an island bob .. or ethel ....
so ... once we had our tickets sorted out .... it starts to feel real!! oh my heavens ... i have wanted to go to the galapagos islands my whole life and now, not only am i going to the galapagos, i'm taking my four favorite people with me ... yes!!
tickets bought well ahead of time ... what's the next thing you would do to prepare for the trip?
