... i like to write .... the hardest thing to me about writing is finding what i want to write about ... my favorite, favorite, most favorite writing is travel journaling ....it's perfect ... you go somewhere lovely, and then you chronicle every single happy bit of it ...
that's a photo of our washington dc travel journal from last year .... it is actually what i think is the PERFECT journal ... i got it at border's many years ago, and i liked it so much that i bought five of them ... i would have bought more, but they only had five .... a bit of me wishes that i had gone to other border's and bought more .. they are like the promise of a good trip whenever i see them in my art room waiting to be used ....
look how fat that journal is .... yay! just finding it to take this pic made me have to sit and read through it ... i'm about to go to the galapagos but just relived washington dc ... rah ...
it is the perfect journal cause it is good and fat ....that means enough paper .... no skimping on writing, drawing or adding things in ... there's always plenty of space ....
it has brown paper.. perfect! ......white just looks so clean, it makes you feel like you need to be tidier on it ... if it is pre browned, smudge away...
it has pockets... perfect! ... lots and lots of pockets to stick gathered and collected stuff into ...
the cover is cardboardy.... perfect!.... so easy to alter to what you want it to look like .....

groovy journal is top right .... kind of a corny cover, but i'll change it up ....
top left is a pencil pouch that will hold everything but the journal ... and my beloved sharpie pens .. if you follow me on my art blog you probably know i'm a bit of a sharpie addict .... i narrowed down my selection to redorangeyellowgreenbluepurplebrownblack with just a few extras ... mostly thin, but not all .... then an faa approved safety scissors ... that just means the tip is less than four inches .. i hope they don't get taken away ... but i have actually had scissors taken away ... then i just spend my trip tearing paper in more or less straight lines .... mostly less .... yellow electrical tape ... cause it is pretty ... scotch tape in case i run out of glue ... and... missing glue sticks ... that's on my liset of things to get before i go .... and last, a pile of pretty colored cards ... i'll give one to a child to write or draw their impression of a day and glue it onto a page ... one kid will balk at it til i tell him he can just write a list ... the others will do it readily ....
so ... getting ready ... got my important thing done ... now to work in the less essential ... like clothes ....
