how's that for a gorgeous yellow finch?
when darwin was in the galapagos islands, he collected finches and sent them back home (dead) to be studied later ..... we saw loads and loads of finches while we were in the galapagos .... but mostly we saw them from the car ... ground finches and cactus finches ....brownish gray and small .... this one, the only one like it i saw, was bright, bright yellow and very fat .. it seemed particularly fat because i've read beak of the finch about darwin's finches and evolution and in lots of that book the discussion was about evolving during lean times, famines .....clearly, this was not a lean moment .... sophie took this picture ... it makes me like it even more ....
